Emotional
7 September 2017
Loved this production of Cat on a hot tin roof. The acting was brilliant and powerfully presented.
Not sure the nudity was necessary, as it brought nothing to the experience. However, it was not a problem and was tastefully done.
Even the smaller roles were well executed.

Very poor play ... the settings is really horrible... sometimes look like school play ... thanks god there get naked... is the only thing attractive in the play ...

The whole cast were excellent with Sienna stealing the show. The set was very cleverly created. A classic story brilliantly modernised. A brave interpretation that worked perfectly.

The heat is on!
29 August 2017
The director has tackled the sexual theme of this play full frontal and it works a charm. Miller absolutely sizzles and I for one wanted to shout out " find some one else to make a baby with - you deserve it!"

Big Mama
28 August 2017
Powerful performances from all the actors. A thoroughly enjoyable show that captures the imagination where you don't feel the distance between your chair and the stage.
Big Mama stole the show in my opinion.
Brilliant show. Highly recommended.

Sienna the Southern Belle
26 August 2017
Sienna Miller smoulders her way through the Tennessee Williams revival with an unwavering Southern gal accent. As fast fading rose Maggie she did not quite overcome memories of Elizabeth Taylor in the same role, opposite a young Paul Newman. But she is just a tad too whip thin and gym honed for the role physically to my untutored eye.
As her hard drinking no-account husband Brick, Jack McDonnell gives the ladies in the stalls the benefit of his chiselled butt for much of the play. His Memphis accent could do with a little down home time. Colm Meaney makes a fine fist of the Burl Ives role as the old silverback male,Big Daddy. The set resembles a giant biscuit box and the action is confined to the brawling couples bedroom, with noises off suggesting a brooding Delta thunderstorm. I do not remember the homoerotic leitmotiv being quite so central to the Taylor/Newman version but heck -its been a long time since then. Three Mr Mushroom heads .

Cat on a hot tin roof
25 August 2017
Enjoyed show but not high on list of theatre visits. Good casting but rather heavy going portrayal. Found shower use over indulgent as a permanent fixture on stage. Didn't like the mess created all over the stage with cake , which became unnecessary, and looked awful with actors taking their bows.

Cat on hot tin roof
25 August 2017
Great acting but far too long. Story turned into a drawn out dialogue of repitition and inconsequentialitys.
The theatre was extremely hot with no ventilation which made the last hour of the play uncomfortable. £75 a ticket was far too much but I suppose that's london for you

Somehow weird
11 August 2017
I cant quite put my finger on what is was, because the four main characters all were acted well and passionately, but something was missing, or off with this production. It felt weird watching what was happening the entire time, in the way that at no point it drew me in enough to forget that this was staged in a theater and the actors were being "theatricral". Seeing two beautiful naked people at the beginning and end didnt really seem to fit into anything, and therefore much of the punch was lost from it.

Cat review
11 August 2017
I've seen the original movie with Elizabeth Taylor and Paul Newman, therefore I had very high expectations. Although overall I enjoyed the play, as it is still contemporary topic, the acting wasn't on the level I expected. I felt that sometimes it was more about the visual experience than about the content and the content for was very important for me.

Cat on a Hot Hot Hot Tin roof
8 August 2017
Strong powerful play performed by an outstanding cast. Sienna Miller mesmerising in the first half as Maggie. Colm Meaney superb as Big Daddy. Special mention for Jack O'Connell who was pivotal in bringing the whole play together with a fabulous portrayal of Brick. This production of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof is a version which will be remembered for a very long time.

Fine
8 August 2017
I was disappointed that I wasn't wowed. I thought the characters were played well enough. I wanted something fresh and surprising and innovative.
In my opinion, the set and direction didn't add anything interesting. The over-showering didn't work for me.
My opinion is it was fine, but I didn't feel myself drawn in by the characters enough to think it was great theatre.

What a huge disapointment.
The accents were more Welsh than deep south American and the acting was wooden at best.

21 July 2017
Actors Texan speaking inaudible and screaching, particularly Sienna Miller - poorly staged - too long and failed to capture the essence of the play with such a contemporary setting. and Act One was too long and boring.
I left after the Ist Act!

Great cast
20 July 2017
Great cast and acting by sienna, jack and Colm. Single modern set in a small cosey theatre. Pretty dark, slow story with funny parts throughout. set in Mississippi the actors have strong southern accents that take a while to adjust to and I was surprised by the amount of nakedness which I feel is completely unnecessary but not distasteful.
The first act is the shortest at 40 minutes but felt longer as there are just 2 actors and constant dialogue mainly from Sienna who is the star/focus throughout but then disappears for most of the second act. The 2nd act is 1hr 40 and overall more engaging as it involves the whole cast and more activity, but my concentration did wander towards the end.
I haven't seen the original movie so I can't compare it but in my experience nothing is ever as good as the original so I was unsurprised when my mum confirmed this view. Its not for everyone and I certainly wouldn't take children but overall interesting play with strong cast, a little slow at times.

Interesting
20 July 2017
I didn't think wow but it was interesting. A fab cast and lord knows how sienna remembered all that dialogue. I felt like I had to concentrate quite hard especially with that deep south accent. Not sure the nudity was necessary but wow jack and sienna have fabulous figures. I had to smile at Jack's Jack the Lad tattoo on his shoulder.
