Wonderful experience
7 January 2024
Really enjoyed the immersive experience in Leicester - wonderfully evocative. Really informative about Van Gogh and a fantastic opportunity to experience his work.
Do wrap up warm as the church is cold!

Fascinating
3 October 2023
The experience is great if you do not suffer from rapid change of images
The screens change so quickly at times, it sent me and my friend dizzy, sickly and unbalanced…
It is very cleverly done. In the immersion room. But the small corridor to look at information, was narrow and the display too high to look at xx

A truly breathtaking visit
5 September 2023
We arrived a little early but there was no issue and we were allowed to go straight in. The atmosphere was right as soon as you entered the first room. Classical music was playing throughout and every painting had information. The first interactive was Flowers I sat mesmerised as his paintings changed in colours to depict each picture he drew. The main event was 35 mins of his paintings coming alive with narration and movement, it is on a loop so you start until you have seen everything. Again the music and the artistry involved was spectacular. But there was a final treat in store. We paid extra for the VR experience and it was worth every penny again this was the first time I have used this and it was an experience I will never forget. The favourite paintings came alive and I was part of them.

This is the fourth time I have been to the Van Gogh Experience as I love it so much. This time I came with my daughter and sister who is in a wheelchair. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful. She could experience it all. The church is the perfect setting for it, the music and ambience create a relaxing and exciting atmosphere and overall it gives a faithful impression of this tragic artist’s life.

Van Gogh - Relaxing, informative and thoroughly enjoyable.
20 August 2023
We had a lovely hour learning all about Van Gogh - learnt things we didn't already know. Some clever emersive experiences await you as you arrive with some information about his life (a little too much reading for the teen but he enjoyed the art work). After that you move onto the main hall with the 360 moving images and we really could have spent much longer relaxing and enjoying the atmosphere but we had a table booked for lunch. Would definately recommend and possible try for a return visit maybe at one of the other locations. Very cleverly put together, you almost forget you are in a church.

10 August 2023
Well organised and really lovely staff. It really was 'immersive'. We loved the VR too. Very informative about the short life of this troubled man. Art was superbly shown.
Just one thing about accessibility. Entrance door is at a very difficult angle to negotiate on a mobility scooter, but it is possible to go in the back door if you don't mind going to the start against all the people walking through the one way system.

A "must see" exhibition
11 July 2023
Wow! What a great experience! Starts off low key with a normal exhibition about his life, illustrated with pictures of his paintings. There's also a replica of his bedroom in Arles, and a short documentary on his painting style. The main exhibition is the immersive part. This is on a loop so you don't miss anything. Our venue had a settee, a few chairs, and some deckchairs. You can also stand. Wherever you are, and wherever you sit, it washes over you, and you experience everything. We thought it was excellent value for the price. We didn't pay the £3 per head extra for the VR experience (which is on the way out). But this was solely due to the fact we are OAPS with glasses, and weren't sure if the headsets would fit over them. Would love to go again. We went to Leicester.

Amazing experience
8 July 2023
The Van Gogh Immersive Experience was something I'd had recommended to me by friends and left far too long to visit. From the beginning it was clear that the curation of this exhibition was going to be amazing. In the very first room, a fascinating display of all the vases of flowers that Van Gogh had painted kept me enthralled as I watched each painting develop into the next, the 3D vase keeping a central point of reference, with colours blending and changing in a lengthy cycle. Walking into the reconstruction of the bedroom in Arles, familiar from so many images, was surreal. Then the main room, the full 'Immersive Experience ' was amazing, but I will give no spoilers!
The Virtual Reality section was well worth the extra small cost. Fabulous all round!

5 July 2023
The immersive experience was lovely in the main room, and the information and pictures to that point were very satisfying. It was a shame to find the VR goggles at the end were extra, when we’d bought a ticket. We felt that should have been included.

29 April 2023
Being someone who really likes Van Gogh's painting and being told about it by a friend, it was a must see. I was not diasappointed. Congratulations to the team who devised it all.
My only thought was that there were no adult paperbacks or hardbacks about his life. I would have bought one.

A Visual and Phonic Delight
25 April 2023
The first section of the exhibition is both informative and stimulating, telling as it does, both the artist's sad and eventually tragic life story and explaining beautifully the brilliance of his art. Vangogh's bed sitting room being particularly interesting item.
The secong part of the exhibition which is a sound a light experience is a wonderful visual and phonic delight.
And finally for a small extra outlay one can don a virtual reality headset and actually enter into the artists world and walk through some of gis paintings Quite extraordinary

Little underwhelming
27 March 2023
Little underwhelming for the cost to be honest. The main room with Emerson’s experience was ok - in other places it’s been in larger areas so it’s been more spectacular. But other than that very little else to see. Also the staff at entrance very bored and unenthusiastic which doesn’t help.

13 March 2023
At long last, we finally got some tickets to see the Van Gogh experience. It didn't disappoint....from the information and story about Vincent, through to the immersive exhibition where his paintings came alive. Sitting surrounded by beautiful art with very moving music playing ,then to actually BE in the paintings themselves by using the VR headset.
If you have not been but are thinking of going....YOU MUST!!
You won't regret it .

Van Gogh the Immersive Experience - leicester
20 February 2023
Attended Sunday 19 February. Booked for myself and my stepdaughter who recreated the skeleton in her year 11 artwork.
We really loved it ! The information about Van Gogh is great and the life he lead. The vases exhibit was incredible .. there is a short documentary and a replica room exhibit of "the bedroom".
There is an extra charge of £3.00 to have the VR experience and I would urge everyone to do that part it really is amazing. It is however not the experience you "see" in the advert ...at least not at Leicester ...but nonetheless it was super.
The colouring room is fun too we both enjoyed trying our hand at the sunflowers and starry night and seeing other visitors pictures too.
The exhibition itself is good and we loved the immersive room the most. You may take photos and videos which I did and they will be great memories.
Such a great idea all round with a cute gift shop with some lovely memorabilia....not too expensive .. £6.00 for a large poster in a sturdy cardboard tube and £15.00 for a really lovely quality tote bag.... Happy step daughter and happy me!

Disappointing
19 February 2023
The price is very high compared to the lenght and quality of the exhibition.
Only few rooms to visit and the main room consists of a video of 30 minutes projected on the four walls.
It is very nice but that's all. And the place is also very cold.
The 3d experience is not even included in the price of the ticket but it costs 3£ extra.

12 February 2023
I was probably expecting something more but overhaul my 13 and 15 year old daughters loved it and I highly recommend the virtual at the end of the tour, even tho it’s an extra £3 per person, and that swayed it from 3 to 4 star rating, but bearing in mind I had no interest in Van Gough I took my daughters, but I found it interesting and educational. Defiantly glad I went.

Worst experience, we came all the way to leicester from sheffield, only to know there’s been a powercut due to which the show’s had been cancelled for the entire day.
