A Doll's House, Part 2

In a season that's jam-packed with new musicals, there are also plenty of exciting new plays. On top of the Broadway debuts of two Pulitzer Prize-winning playwrights, Lynn Nottage and Paula Vogel, the newest play set to premiere is A Doll's House, Part 2. Lucas Hnath's play, which is an inventive take on what happens after Henrik Ibsen's classic play concludes, will be directed by Tony Award-winner Sam Gold (Fun Home, The Glass Menagerie). The play boasts an all-star cast, including three-time Emmy Award-winner Laurie Metcalf, Academy Award-winner Chris Cooper, Tony Award-winner Jayne Houdyshell, and two-time Tony Award-nominee Condola Rashad. Performances are set to begin on April 1, 2017 at Broadway's John Golden Theatre.

Here's how the producer's describe the play: "In the final scene of Ibsen's 1879 ground-breaking masterwork, Nora Helmer makes the shocking decision to leave her husband and children, and begin a life on her own. This climactic event — when Nora slams the door on everything in her life — instantly propelled world drama into the modern age.  In A Doll's House, Part 2, many years have passed since Nora’s exit.  Now, there’s a knock on that same door. Nora has returned. But why?  And what will it mean for those she left behind?"
