From Here To Eternity

"I'll remember this day for the rest of my life."

Tim Rice, Stuart Brayson, Donald Rice and Bill Oake's epic musical From Here To Eternity returns this autumn for its first London revival in a newly revised production at Charing Cross Theatre.

Set against the backdrop of Pearl Harbor, 1941, this gripping tale of illicit love and army life follows the story of four lovers and the soldiers of G Company as their worlds are dramatically ripped apart forever.

Adapted from the classic novel by James Jones, this breathtaking musical unites the writing talents of Tim Rice (lyrics), Stuart Brayson (music) and Bill Oakes (book), and is directed by Brett Smock (Artistic Director, The Rev Theatre, New York).

From Here To Eternity marked Tim Rice's first new stage musical for over ten years when it premiered in 2013. His extraordinary career includes winning 12 Ivor Novello Awards, 4 Tony Awards and 3 Academy Awards, with smash-hit musicals including Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita and Che ss.

Don't miss the magnificent return of this thrilling revival!

  • A wonderful revival

    18 December 2022

Charing cross theatre is an intimate and immersive place. This somptuous revival is a great enjoyement, all the actors were absolutely fine and involved. A beautiful and heartful story with great lyrics (Tim Rice of course) and music.

I was born exactly one week after the Pearl Harbour attack, on 14/12/1941, so I found the show very moving and thought provoking from a personal perspective. It was also about 54 years since my last visit to the theatre so was very pleased to see that it had survived!

  • Bravo cast and production

    13 December 2022

This was by a country mile the best production I have ever watched. This Love Story had me smiling one minute and in tears at the end. Humour, compassion and empathy side by side throughout. Beautifully acted by a talented cast I could have stayed and watched it all over again ...

  • A Real Classic!

    24 November 2022

If the long list of warnings about the content of the show was anything to go by we were in for a bumpy ride! But we knew the show and were well prepared for the subtle and not so subtle twists and turns of the plot. This was every bit as good, if not better in places than the original production in a much bigger venue. The limited space did feel a bit claustrophobic with so many soldiers on stage but the staging worked extremely well in the more intimate scenes. The emotions came across and tears were shed. Lighting was used to excellent effect actually making the acting area seem larger at times. The small orchestra, off stage, was well balanced with the voices. The use of a little reverb for the singing voices was a distraction to start with but became less obvious as the action moved on and probably achieved the effect that was intended. The problems of balancing so many individual microphones and instrument tracks in the small space depends as much on the quality of the gear as the abilities of the sound crew and I was impressed that it was not too loud with little or no distortion that can happen when the equipment is pushed. We love the show and the energy of the cast both in singing and acting really gave us a well polished and memorable interpretation of it. Recommended!!
