'I found a king in me and now I love you
I found a king in you and now I love me'
Father figures and fashion tips. Lost loves and jollof rice. African empires and illicit sex. Good days and bad days. Six young Black men meet for group therapy, and let their hearts – and imaginations – run wild.
For Black Boys is located on the threshold of joyful fantasy and brutal reality: a world of music, movement, storytelling and verse – where six men clash and connect in a desperate bid for survival.
Following its sold out runs at the Royal Court Theatre and New Diorama Theatre, the award winning For Black Boys Who Considered Suicide When The Hue Gets Too Heavy transfers to the West End for a limited 6 week run.

Poignant
7 May 2023
An absolutely incredible and poignant screenplay. Depicting the variations of Black British boys their struggles, sexuality, relationships and aspirations. Never has a play so perfectly captured the essence of Black British boys and men and resonated so deeply. It covered taboos, stigma and challenged what has become part of the culture. From the music to the slang it was quite clearly a production by us for us. I hope this show is brought back as I will go and see it again in a heartbeat.

Incredible Showcase
7 May 2023
For Black Boys is a powerful and thought-provoking play that explores the experiences of Black men in Britain. The show is incredibly well-written, with dialogue that is both poignant and impactful. The performances are excellent across the board, with each actor bringing a unique perspective to their role. The play tackles difficult subject matter with sensitivity and nuance, leaving audiences with much to think about long after the curtain falls. I highly recommend this play to anyone looking for a moving and thought-provoking theatrical experience.
