What Is An American In Paris About?

An American In Paris is about an American GI who decided to stay and live in France as the WWII ends. He chooses Paris - a city that is bursting with possibilities and dreams - to get started in his dream career as a painter. He then meets a beautiful and mysterious Parisian ballet dancer, whom he can't help but fall in love with.

What is most enjoyable about An American In Paris is the ballet-musical-theatre fusion, which brings together the beauty of the ballet with the action and storyline of a musical. The stage design is very modern and striking, transporting the audience to the heart of Paris and the quai of the river Seine.

  • Boring

    19 November 2017

Almost fell asleep during this show. The story is boring and so was the show, too much ballet. Acting was fine.

  • Wonderful production, but an Enigma

    18 November 2017

The changing stage sets, the costumes, dancing, singing and sound were all stunning but...the way the story was told was disjointed, slightly confusing and, at times, puzzling. Humour fell flat several times, was it the audience...? I don't think so,. In brief, technical Production tremendous, but presentation of story-line needs improvement.

  • Breathtaking!

    18 November 2017

Mum and I loved An American in Paris! The cast were amazing, setting each scene beautifully. Ashley and the two other male leads were engaging, amusing and talented. As for Leanne Cope - every time she was on stage she lit up the show with her sparkle, talent, attention to each step and beautiful smile. Her dance is mesmerising! If you love ballet and musical this is the show for you!
